A few more days with the Nokia 6220 classic my hands make me have more information to evaluate certain aspects of terminal of the Finnish House, in a first review talked about details of its design, screen and its positioning in the market.
In this next and final part I will try to review by paragraphs the main elements of the phone, I hope to not let me many things in the pipeline and that article serve you to get to know to the Nokia 6220 classic.
To start better than talk about one of the most favorable points of the terminal, its camera:
The Nokia 6220 classic it comes equipped with a module composed by the camera of 5 mega pixels, xenon flash, and the Carl Zeiss Optics, which as we mentioned in the first part of the analysis, it is the same set used in the Nokia N82.
It even uses the same software, but introduces some improvements allow us to geo – tag images, or configure a shortcut in the menubar, a not very important detail, but that some may be comfortable.
It is the maximum camera resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels, image size between 700 KB and somewhat more than 2 Mb. The user can also make use of the following default resolution settings:
- Print 3M (2048 x 1536 pixels)
- Print 2M (1600 x 1200 pixels)
- e-mail 0.8 M (1024 x 768 pixels)
- MMS 0.3 M (640 x 480 pixels)
Typical to assess is the lag that occurs between photo and photo on digital cameras, once the photo, the camera starts to process and we can preview it in 1 or 2 seconds, if we want to actually see the picture we have to wait for more than 3 seconds. When we are doing photos continuously, it is convenient to remove the option Preview to not be waiting for the process continually.
Some aspects that we can manage are the shades of colour, exposure compensation, or the white balance, the camera in auto mode works very well these aspects, but can always be interesting to let us handle them.
I leave you with a gallery that I have made with the terminal these days, are images in the Cadiz capital, and some to another, you can click on them to see them in their original size and appreciate the quality of the camera that incorporates the Nokia 6220 classic:

The phone is able to record videos at 15 frames per second at VGA (640 x 480) resolution, and features image stabilization made by software.
The clips are saved in MPEG4 format on the memory card by default, although you can change to the phone’s memory.
The maximum duration is 60 minutes, but in reality more than 40 or 50 minutes not be registered since the battery is consumed before, as measure to reach these records can remove the sound of the recording.
As in the taking of photographs, is can adjust white balance, apply color effects, or use two predefined modes: auto and night mode.
Below a few links of videos recorded with the terminal, as you can see succeeds in obtaining a super quality, which makes it have few rivals in this regard in its price range:

The materials used for the realization of the keyboard are not especially clean, all the buttons in the 6220 Classic they are made of glossy plastic, initially by their size and disposition seem quite sensitive and easy to use, but I don’t is what I find in the time that I’ve been with him.
The first drawback find the buttons * and #, keys somewhat smaller than the rest and a little uncomfortable press being so far down, taking advantage of also some curvature that is determined by the design of the mobile.
In regards to the directional pad, it is quite comfortable to use. A silver frame surrounds the selection of large size button, and behind them the pad allow enough movement to the pad, which makes selecting different directions is made comfortable and efficiently.
It is difficult to venture the duration and endurance of the keyboard with the passage of time, but I have a feeling that is not a very resistant keyboard, both materials and mechanisms used to perform keystrokes.
I must comment that there is a problem with early versions placed on the market, but fortunately the new remittances have it resolved. In case you meet a terminal with problems on the keyboard, you must only inform you with Service Center of Nokia, where can be repaired for free.
The device is equipped with 128 mb of RAM memory, sufficient for the operation of several simultaneous applications or performing navigations complex Web pages, ultimately I have found in this sense phone pretty fluid, no slowdowns, which also helps its 369 MHz processor.
If we talk about memory storage, the user has nearly 120 Mb available, and as an alternative we can always use memory cards microSD, in fact the phone that has provided me with Nokia it comes with a 1 Gb drive, although the model that is sold in Spain has 512 MB.
Apparently there are no restrictions on the size of the card, the terminal can be identified without problems a 8GB card.
The phone uses a battery BP – 5M’s 900 mAh, lower when compared with the of the Nokia N82 1050 mah. But thanks to the use of the S60 Feature Pack 2, has a better optimization of the battery so the results are not as different as it may seem.
Figures for autonomy presented by Nokia they are as usual something greater than what reality brand, inform us that we can use 5 hours in talk time and 300 hours on standby time may be.
We could choose this section as one of the strengths of the terminal, since it is a unit of small size and weight, with a considerable autonomy always depending on the use we are making.
Some interesting figures that comment are 14 hours of use provided by the listening to music through headphones, more than 12 hours if you use radio, 3 hours of web browsing over 3 G networks or the nearly 4 hours of GPS navigation.
The theme of the GPS on a device like this is difficult to assess, their presence is a point in its favour that unlike many devices, but is a reality that is ideal for use as a solution for positioning device.
The software for these purposes is the Nokia Maps 2.0, quite simple and full if not compared to other more focused solutions. For me there is a GPS for everyday use, okay to locate nearby things, or if you’re lost you can get out of trouble, but it has details operation that make it awkward in other applications.
Route changes doesn’t provide very well, or at least in a fast way, I don’t like how recalculates routes, stays a bit in limbo in these situations. I think it works much better in the way walk, which used in a vehicle.
A few days ago I updated the firmware of the phone since it came with a quite old version, and indeed I have noticed some improvements in aspects of GPS, but also determine a dramatic shift.
We could say that the GPS is somewhat slow at startup, It takes about 4 minutes to acquire satellites, and once operating, it is not mandatory but if you ask us many times the connection via the internet to extend information, they are not many kilobytes, but money can go to us with this topic.
Anyway almost all failures are easily solvable by software, we can always resort to load any other software or wait for new updates that improve these problems. A last handicap is the screen, excellent in quality for many tasks, but perhaps a little small to use as GPS.
Escape me little details that I didn’t want to do a paragraph as port or Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity USB incorporates, that sure will be very useful for the transfer of information, synchronize with the Nokia PC Suite or to directly connect it to a printer.
Leaving in advance clear it seems to me a good terminal, I don’t really know whether what I finished like is the phone itself, or else is your operating system S60, me the same thing happens with other brothers, the interface is not my favorite, and for anything we have to move through too many menus.
Too many times have to deny internet access, is a very connection-oriented phone to perform its functions, suppose it is something normal, and increasingly more widespread, but in these terminals it is me heavier.
I has gustao especially reader messages, useful for people with some sort of problem when it comes to reading, but that also you can remove a trouble if you can not read the contents of it and prefer the appliance please read you, also taking advantage of the technology of reading you can associate with the ringtone and vocally who tells you is calling.
Another interesting aspect of the terminal is the support of PPH, Push to talk, is a network service that allows you to communicate with a group of people by just pressing a button, style walky-talky.
In terms of phone capabilities, that if we stand, we are talking about a phone, it is something that Nokia It has already completely overcome, the quality of reception is at good levels, coverage has not given me problems out of the ordinary. In this regard it approved with note.
To my honestly I would have liked a better quality of materials, and have WiFi connectivity. But if we value dimensions and weight on a phone, you like your design and you want to have a good camera, I think it is a terminal to take into account. Also do not forget it has aspects that differentiate it as the TV out and GPS.
