Baku Hotels
There are not just a lot of places where a tired traveler can make a halt in Baku, but a lot. Moreover, the rooms and service of many hotels are of surprisingly high quality. In addition to the very budget options, in the capital you can find a comfortable hotel for very reasonable money.
The most economical choice is hostels. They are both in the central part of the city and on the outskirts of Greater Baku. A bed in a dormitory room will cost 450-1300 RUB. When choosing a similar accommodation option, you need to think about your safety, because strangers sleep in the same room. You should not leave money and valuables in a conspicuous place, ideally it is better not to show that you have them at all.
The cost for double rooms in hotels starts from the same 1300 RUB. For this amount, you can stay close to the center, and the accommodation comes with free Wi-Fi, parking and the ability to check in with pets. There are also more expensive, five-star hotels. Prices range from 4,000 to 40,000 RUB (in the latter case, you will be offered to check into the famous Flame Towers).
Transport
Baku is a developed modern capital, so getting from one part of the city to another is not difficult. For those who need to get there quickly and comfortably, it is better to use a taxi. The fare in the city center starts from 2 AZN. The prices on the page are for September 2021.
For those who are not in a hurry, there is a good way to combine business with pleasure – a bicycle and a scooter. There is no general rental network in Baku, so you will need to return the transport to where you took it. An hour of rent will cost about 3 AZN, a day – 25 AZN.
Buses and minibuses
There are many ground transport stops in the city, and it runs quite often, from 6:00 to 00:00 – with an interval of 5-15 minutes. In the evening, buses to the suburbs leave once an hour. A ride through the city center costs 3 AZN, the cost of a trip to more remote areas depends on the distance.
You can find out where a particular bus is going from the information board at the bus stop or ask those waiting – they will be happy to explain to you.
Underground
The Baku Metro consists of three operating lines: red and green, with a total of 26 stations. Passage in the subway is carried out by plastic cards, which are sold at the subway ticket offices or vending machines located in the lobbies of the stations. When buying a card, a deposit of 2 AZN is paid, which is returned after using the card, provided that it is fully functional. Recently, such cards can also be used on some bus routes. The fare is 0.30 AZN.
Rent a Car
Renting a car in Baku is only for experienced drivers, as traffic in the city is busy. In any case, for those who feel at the wheel like a fish in water, a car is a great opportunity to see the maximum of city attractions in a few days. True, only if you are not “lucky enough” to get into the notorious Baku traffic jams.
Traffic congestion is a real talk of the town for the capital of Azerbaijan. Dense car traffic, coupled with rampant non-compliance with traffic rules, exacerbates the traffic situation in the city. Things are much better with parking lots – there are a lot of them in the city, and if you need to leave your car for just a few minutes, you can do it absolutely free. On average, the cost varies from 1 AZN per hour to 25 AZN per day.
There are quite a few car rental companies in the city. There are both local (Auto Rent, Rent a car) and international firms (Avis) on the market. You can rent a car for a few hours, a couple of days or a month. Depending on the rental period, brand and model of car, the cost ranges from 45 AZN per day to 4000 AZN per month.
